Georgia Civil War Archaeological Site AR Application

HistoriQuest LLC is developing an augmented reality application for mobile devices for a Civil War era archaeological site

A part of the Augmented Reality application at Magnolia Springs State Park, a 3D model of the original prison camp stockade viewable by mobile devices.

managed by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources,
State Parks and Historic Sites.

Visitors to the site will be able to use mobile devices both indoors and outdoors to investigate a wealth of research and other media related to the site, with the visitor’s mobile camera view being enhanced with links to information based on the visitor’s location.

The application will also allow visitors to view a 3D reconstruction of a historic structure in its original state through the augmented reality application.

The application will be available for both iOS and Android devices. The project also includes the deployment of a web “hub” in support of the application, as well as graphic design.

The project has been funded with the assistance of a grant from the Georgia Natural Resources Foundation.
